Cyanoacrylate adhesive is a fast-curing industrial adhesive that polymerizes when a suitable amount of moisture is present at the joint. Buyers may also see CA glue, instant adhesive, or super glue on a quotation, but these market terms do not identify viscosity, gap capability, package, or test method. A procurement decision should start with the joint and the process, not the nickname.
What the common names do and do not tell you
| Term on a quotation | What it usually communicates | What still needs confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| Cyanoacrylate adhesive | The adhesive chemistry family | Grade, viscosity, cure time, strength, and substrate limits |
| CA glue or instant adhesive | A fast-bonding market description | Whether the product fits the joint gap and dispensing process |
| Super glue | A consumer or general-market name | Industrial documents, batch control, packaging, and validation data |
| Gel cyanoacrylate | A higher-viscosity format | Actual viscosity, gap, cure, and nozzle compatibility |
The label is useful for finding suppliers, but it is not a performance specification. For example, TongLin lists low-viscosity S505 and a medium-viscosity S508 separately, while CA-S1500 provides a much higher-viscosity reference. The S505 product page shows one low-viscosity starting point, but the customer’s substrate, joint geometry, dose, and production takt time still determine whether a candidate is suitable.
What an industrial buyer should compare
Ask for a current technical data sheet and record the test conditions before comparing offers:
- viscosity and measurement temperature;
- recommended joint gap, fixture time, and full-cure guidance;
- tensile or lap-shear method, substrate, and conditioning;
- package, nozzle, storage requirement, shelf life, and batch traceability;
- known limitations such as porous surfaces, low-energy plastics, or cosmetic blooming.
These fields connect the adhesive to the actual production line. A product with a higher strength number is not automatically better if it cannot wet the joint, fit the dose equipment, or meet the customer’s inspection criteria.
When to request an industrial sample
Request samples when the substrate, gap, dispensing method, package, or acceptance test is not already proven. Test the proposed grade on production-representative parts and document both handling and final performance. The cyanoacrylate product range provides a starting point, while TongLin OEM service can help define a private-label or bulk supply brief.
The name cyanoacrylate does not guarantee a result for every material or environment. Final selection must be validated by the customer on the real joint. Send the substrate, target volume, package format, and test requirement through Contact for a focused technical review.
